Rochester, N.Y. — A local school is delivering science education in an innovative way.
The Rochester Academy of Science introduced its new STEM vending machine, the first of its kind in the community.
Rather than dispensing snacks and drinks, this machine offers robotics kits, engineering challenges, and coding activities.
School leaders explained that the vending machine removes barriers to innovation by providing fun, high-quality STEM enrichment directly to students.
"There might be some initial disappointment when students realize it’s not cupcakes," said Principal David McBride. "But once they see what’s inside the vending machine, I believe they’ll be excited."
"We emphasize hands-on learning, so when our students get their hands on these kits, explore, and create, they’ll be absolutely thrilled," McBride added. "They’ll forget all about the cupcakes."
The school also announced that the vending machine is part of its new Imagineering Outpost, which will include a LEGO lab opening this fall.
