At least three Palestinian women have been killed and eight others injured after missile debris struck a beauty salon in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

The PRCS reported that shrapnel hit the salon in the town of Beit Awwa, near Hebron, in the southern West Bank.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa said fragments landed on a metal caravan used as a salon, as well as several other locations across the West Bank.

The incident occurred shortly after the Israeli military announced that Iran had fired missiles towards Israel, which it said it was "working to intercept."

Wafa identified the deceased as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17; Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50; and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa' Masalmeh, 36.

The PRCS said response teams, including at least five ambulances, rushed to the scene and found "several casualties and injuries." The bodies of the three women were transported to a local hospital, along with other victims who sustained "critical and moderate" wounds.

Initially, the PRCS reported four women killed in the incident but later revised the death toll to three.

The PRCS added that emergency crews faced "significant difficulties" reaching the site due to the closure of iron gates leading to the area, which "had a direct and critical impact on the time available to save the injured victims."

The BBC has contacted the Israeli military for comment.
